Summary: Medical Bloom Korean Medicine Clinic runs the "10-Million Actor Project," a scar and skin care support program, so that aspiring actors and artists are not held back from their potential by scar or skin concerns, or by the financial burden of repeated treatment.

Hello, I am Lee Ji-seung, Medical Director of Medical Bloom Korean Medicine Clinic · COEX. Today, instead of my usual treatment topics, I would like to introduce the work I have been putting my heart into lately: sharing the scar concerns of people who dream of becoming actors.

Why Scars Feel Bigger in Front of the Camera

In scar consultations, I meet people who worry about their scars more because of their work. Among them, those preparing to become actors carry a somewhat different weight.

  • Close-up shots — In a close-up, even a small depression or mark can easily show up as a shadow.
  • Lighting and angles — Light from the side makes the contours of depressed scars more pronounced.
  • Confidence — When a scar is on your mind, your expressions and gaze often become less natural.
  • The burden of repeated treatment — Scar treatment usually needs several sessions spaced apart, which is a heavy cost for people who are just starting out.

For those preparing to become actors, scars can be more than a matter of appearance; they can be tied directly to their work. That made me wonder whether there was something I could do as a medical professional.

We Started the 10-Million Actor Project

That is how the "10-Million Actor Project" began. It supports aspiring actors and artists with medical care for their scar and skin concerns, and records, through video content, how participating actors face their scar concerns and go through treatment. Some of the content also features the participating actors themselves.

What I hope for is simple. I hope that people who dream of becoming actors will not be held back from their potential by financial burdens or scar concerns. The goal of this project is not to erase scars completely, but to help people who had shrunk back because of their scars step in front of the camera again.

Our Plans

  • Expanding partnerships — We plan to work with acting academies, broadcasting and video education institutions, and arts organizations to expand medical support and opportunities to work.
  • Support wherever you are — Centered on our Seoul COEX Branch and Busan Centum Branch, we aim to expand our medical network so support is available regardless of where people live.
  • Lasting support — So that this does not end as a one-time event, we will keep refining our content and support programs.

In recognition of this work, I received the National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee Chair's Award at the "2026 Korea Model Business Leader Awards" held on October 13. I believe that, more than the award itself, what matters is the responsibility it gives me to keep this work going.

Don't Keep Your Scar Concerns to Yourself for Too Long

Even if you are not preparing to become an actor, if scars make you hesitate to have your photo taken or make you self-conscious when meeting people, that concern is reason enough to seek a consultation. Treatment methods and duration vary depending on the type and depth of a scar and when it formed, so the first step is to have it examined carefully.

After scar treatment, temporary redness, swelling, bruising, scabs or pigmentation may occur. Results and side effects may vary from person to person. Please consult thoroughly with the medical staff before treatment.
